paleontologic studies in geologic exploration. Sampling and sample preparation
techniques. Fossilization. Classification of the major fossil groups.
Invertebrate fossils including microfossils such as foraminifera,
nannoplanktons, calpionellids and radiolaria. Other invertebrates:
Coelenterate, Brachiopod, Bryozoans, Mollusk (gastropods, bivalves and
cephalopods), Arthropods (Trilobite), Echinoderm and Graptolites. A brief
explanation on vertebrates. Their general features and selected index genus and
species. Fossils as chronometers of the Phanerozoic and as paleoenvironmental
and paleogeographic indicators.
