The content of the Organic Chemistry-I (PHA285) is shown below. Generally speaking, we have aimed to provide an introduction to the shapes of organic molecules and the basic princlples and nomenclature of stereogenic elements in organic molecules. To do this, we generally will focus on the concepts including Molecular shape, symmetry and stereogenicity/chirality. This course will introduce and review these fundamental concepts and extend the ideas presented by Professor Mehmet Erdem Büyükbingöl and we hope that the course material will be providing an underpinning for the future Pharmaceutical Chemistry courses leading to new drug design, molecular modeling approaches and understanding drug action in the biological systems.
